Report for September 2008

Dear Mike,

The school has opened with a lot of activities going on. All the B.B.S pupils have reported and attended classes well. It is the final term for this year and the pupils performance will determine if they will proceed to the next class.

This is a hurdle for all the pupils especially Morris who will be sitting for K.C.P.E exams on 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th November 2008. Please do send him success wishes.

The water sales have gone down due to competition. The well and equipment are all in good condition though the record is as follows.

The medical programme is still experiencing shortage because we the money allocation is not sufficient to run through the month. This means that a lot of pupils who fall sick after the money has elapsed cannot be attended. The list is as follows:

1. PATRICK ATILA

2. MOSES RICHARD

3. RINA OGALO

4.ALICE KUZE

5. MERCY RIZIKI

6. SALMA SUDI

7. LAWRENCE DENA

8 RAWAAN FATHI

9. HAIFA FATHI

10.LUCKY BEJA

11. KARIMA OMAR

12. ANTONY ZOE

13.OMAR ABUBAKAR

14. CHARLES LEWA

The teaching sessions with Pastor David have been a good start for the pupils. Amazingly many of the pupils had not really known Christ but now they have even accepted Him as Lord and Savior. They enjoy the sessions so much and recite the memory verses every week. It is really a good experience for them.

CLASS TEACHERS’ COMMENTS

MORRIS NZANGI

A pupil with good behavior both in class and outside the class. Hardworking pupil. Academically the boy is good. A big hope at him doing well in his final exam (2008 – K.C.P.E)

                                                                        Mr. Baya Thomas

ADRIAN SHUNGU

Adrian Shungu is a good boy i.e. behavior wise. If we turn to his performance he is slow and even too forgetful. So as the class teacher I keep on reminding him. The best thing with him is that he has really developed and likes Mathematics. All the time he will be alone you will see him doing mathematics.

As the teacher I am working hard to see him shine in all the subjects.

                                                                        Madam Eunice

HEZRON CHULA

He is a good boy, who likes school. Only that since we opened he has become a bit lazy. I already called the parent to correct him immediately before the situation worsens. I have already noticed some changes since I called his father. Academically, he is good.

                                                                        Madam Eunice

AMOS SULUBU

He is a good and polite boy. The problem is that he comes to school very late. I have tried to call the parents but all in vain. Sometimes he can be in class but the mind seems to be very far. So you have to keep on calling him to bring back his attention. He has liked mathematics and he is always busy doing mathematics.

As the class teacher am trying my level best to see him improve in all the subjects.

                                                                        Madam Eunice

NURU MUSYOKA

She is a hard working girl and active. She is punctual and observing the school rules and regulations. Well disciplined, responsible with her properties, but she needs more reading materials to improve her English speaking and writing.

                                                                        Madam Susan

DAMARIS CHULA

She has dropped in some of her subjects and it is because of laziness and lack of concentration, she is not attentive in class, she needs special attention from home, parents to observe her behaviors.

                                                                        Madam Susan

Please write back if there any queries or need for clarification.

                                                                                    Yours Faithfully

                                                                                    Ezra Kinuthia

Report Date April 11, 2008

The following id the school report received for the school manager, Ezra

Dear Mike,

How are things in America? We in Kenya are carrying on with life as it comes. The situation in our country pleacarious with the leaders pulling stings to end up with most power. There are still many internally displaced people in the upcountry regions and normally is yet to return. This has caused prices of things to go very high and access to commodities limited. All the same life goes on.

Here in the school the pupils have been coming as required with little absentism recorded. The school is closing on 11th April but the pupils will be required to attend extra tuition for two weeks from 14th April to 25th April. The pupils are in a jovial mood and they send greetings.

WELL PROJECT

The well pump seized to pump adequately and thus we could not get water into the tank for a major part of March. We had to call the plumber who came and advised that the water channels had been clogged with mud so the pump had run for sometime without any water making it less efficient. The only option was to dig 3 more feet down to make sure the water level was enough and clean whatever mud had accumulated. This cost us an additional Ksh. 3,900 + Ksh. 3,000 for the plumber.

We bought another pump which is a submersible 1 H.P which cost us Ksh. 2,500. We now have resumed getting water to the school as from Saturday 5th April.

- Morris Nzangi has gone for a scouting trip to Vuria hills from 4th April to Tuesday 8th April. He was eager to climb the hills which are a steep ascent. His performance is good academically but he needs to stop being overconfident because it could cause him to relax.

- Lilian and Grace Mutheu in std 7 have to pull up their socks effort wise. The performance in Exams is fair but what concerns me is class work like writing notes and being upto date with doing corrections. They show some changes which we are working on currently.

- Amos and Adrian have continued with extra tuitions which are bearing fruit. Amos is show most improvement performing his class work well. He can now react much better than at the beginning of the term.

Adrian is still slow paced with his work and improvement. He forgets easily even simple things. Would you recommend we have him looked at by a doctor? It might give us more insight as to what the problem is.

Amos fell on Sunday while swinging at their church ground. He hurt his neck and his head but not seriously. I have given him a medical form to go to Dr. Chula to be seen.

We held a meeting with the parents on 29th March to update things. The attendance was good only mama Adrian and mama Sharlet & Sharon did not attend. The parents know that you will be coming to visit in the course of this year. We discussed on many issues and generally we are moving forward.

Agnes’ report has not been sent except the ones I sent you last year. The mum says they are closing the school on 9th April and will come with her report on performance for the term.
