Christmas Dinner December 25, 2008 December 25, 2008 was a beautiful day in Wilmington, Delaware. Once
again we were blessed to serve Christmas Dinner for people in our community. First we would like to thank
God for the opportunity to serve Him by serving others. Next we would like to thank the members of the
Methodist Action Program for allowing us to use the building again. Next we need to thank all of the volunteers
for their part in making the day a success. And last but not least we need to thank all those who were
able to enjoy this outpouring of love.
We
were able to serve 260 complete turkey and ham dinners with all of the fixings on Christmas day. We had
40 that did various jobs in order to make this day volunteers complete. We had 14 people to cook (20) 20-pound
turkeys and (8) 5-pound hams plus plenty of macaroni & cheese and stuffing. Every effort was needed
and appreciated by all. Most of our volunteers have been with us in the past and we are grateful for their
return.
This year we had a winter cloths give-a-way table. We had donations of
cloths, hats, gloves, scarf’s, new shoes, and washcloths. “Just Bob Images” took time
to capture this beautiful day in pictures. The total food cost for this dinner was about $1,800.00.
We served less that was planned for this year so the food not eaten was taken to the Sunday
Breakfast Mission on Poplar St. The food was well received by the mission.
Our plan is to continue this Christmas Day dinner for as long as we can. So
we pray that all those involved this year, in any capacity, are willing to come again next year and bring a friend.
This is a great experience.
Thank you for your service and may God continue to bless all of us.
